The AdSense Advantage - Day 6

"How To Turn Your Virtual Real Estate (VRE) Into A Viral Marketing Fortune"

Since you’re reading this course, I assume that you already know what viral marketing is and how the marketing strategy works.  However, I’m sure there are some of you that have never been introduced to the term before.

First off, I recommend you go out and read up on some of the “basic” ideas behind the theory of viral marketing.  I’ll go over some real quick here, but I definitely won’t cover all of the techniques in one lesson.

Secondly… keep reading this lesson because I’m going to show you exactly how to turn your ‘virtual’ real estate into a ‘viral’ real estate.

Viral marketing is a fairly new concept that was started in the late 1990’s when the owner of Hotmail coined the phrase.  The Internet was fairly new, so before this, there was nothing that could spread around the world as fast.  I’m sure you’ve taken part in those “Forward” chain emails that go from one person to millions in just a few days.

The creators of Hotmail wanted to create something that would spread as fast and with as much impact as those good ol’ Forward Email chain letters.  So they decided to create a free email service and then let their users’ emails advertise the service.

I’m sure you’ve seen it before.  At the bottom of every email a Hotmail user sends out, there was a short advertisement saying “Get your free Hotmail Email Account.  Click Here”.

Soon after this, Hotmail had millions and millions of members, and almost zero advertising money went into this!

This is what is known as “Viral Marketing”.  It’s called this because it spreads like a virus.

You can think of the concept of viral marketing just like the biological spreading of a virus.

  1. The virus infects a host.  (You)

  2. The virus duplicates itself.  (You send out emails about the product or other forms of “duplication”.  Hotmail’s duplication was in each email sent out).

  3. The virus infects any host that it can come into contact with.  (Your subscribers, friends, or any other potential host just like yourself).

  4. Then the virus in each new host can infect even more hosts.

This process goes on and on.  If you’re ‘infected’ and you tell 4 friends, and each of them tells 4 friends, and so on, and so on… then you can quickly see how this can add up to millions of people.

You = 1
Your friends = 4
Their friends = 16
Their friends = 64
And so on… = 256
….. 1024
….. 4096
….. 16,384
….. 65,536
….. 262,144
….. 1,048,576
….. 4,194,304
….. 16,777,216

This is exactly what happened with Hotmail.  Hotmail users told their friends about the free service, and then those new users told others…and so on…

Hotmail’s viral marketing strategies allowed them to leverage their numbers and make an utter fortune from them.

Now – I’m not saying that you’ll come close to making the amount of money that Hotmail has generated over the 3 years before MSN bought them, but I hope you’re starting to see how powerful viral marketing can be.

Think about this…

Imagine what this would have been like if the original users would have been able to monetize from telling their friends how to get a free email account.

In other words, by referring a new free user to sign up for Hotmail, the referrer would have somehow benefited financially from it.  And then to take it even further, what if the original referrer could also make money from anyone who the newly-referred free users got to sign up.

It would look something like this...

Original referrer (Parent) refers 2 people to sign up for Hotmail

2 new free users (Children) each refer two others

4 new free users each refer two others

8 new free users each refer two others…

…and so on…

And then imagine that at any time if you were a “free” user, you could stop being simply a referred user (i.e. a child of the original parent referrer), and you could become a “Parent” yourself… Then you could start your own little chain of free users, each of which YOU could monetize from.

This is a strategy that you should employ in your online business.  Viral marketing must be easy for people to spread the word and get involved.  That’s why Hotmail did so well with their “free” email service.  There was nothing to buy and it was a breeze to setup your account.

If you haven’t started your viral marketing campaigns yet, it’s time to start today!

So right now, I’m going to show you how to turn your virtual real estate into a highly ‘viral’ real estate.

This is what I call, The Viral VRE System.

Viral marketing works beset when there are no hoops to jump through.  When visitors can just “see it… get involved… and spread the word”, then they won’t hesitate to dive in.  If it is not easy for people to share, it can’t succeed.

I mentioned in our last lesson that you should be using something to automate your VRE site-building process.  The software I recommended was one of my favorites called, HyperVRE.

One of the best parts about HyperVRE is the viral marketing potential of it.

Before I jump into how the software can be a viral tool for you, I need to remind you about the contextual ad feature within the software.  Remember… you can automatically add contextual ads to the content of every created webpage.

Instead of sifting through each webpage for certain keywords to hyperlink, HyperVRE automatically selects your main keywords on each page and hyperlinks them to ANY affiliate products of your choice.

You insert your affiliate IDs for each program and then they’re dynamically embedded into your contextual ads on each and every page of your website, in addition to any other source of income added to your site.

This step in HyperVRE looks something like this…

The best part is, “It’s all automatic”.

It creates pages that can look something like this…

So now you’re probably thinking, “Yeah, I remember you talking about this contextual ad feature, but what does this have to do with making my sites viral?”

The software has a viral program setup that allows you (the “parent”) to refer others (the “children”) to HyperVRE.com where you can give away free copies of the software to them.  Each free referral (child) you give the software to will then be able to create their own auto-pilot VRE sites.

Now you’re thinking:  “If it’s free software… How can I make any money?”

Here’s the kicker…

Since they’re a free user, they won’t be able to fully use the contextual ad feature.

Instead, each page your referred, free users create will have contextual ads containing YOUR affiliate IDs.

In other words, the affiliate links being promoted in the free user’s content will be that of their “parent” referral… In this case, you.

Even better - the free user (child) can also give the software away to others.  And each person that they give it away to can do the same.  Each new free user that was referred by your “child” (free user) will also be using your affiliate links in their content.

This chain can go on and on, just like the viral marketing pyramid structure I showed you earlier …

Essentially, if you refer 4 free users, and each of them refers 4, and so on… your affiliate products will be promoted on millions of webpages.

The only time a section of the chain will stop is if one of the free users decides to become a “parent” by upgrading as a paid member.  Then, they can do the same thing you were doing as a parent.

This Viral VRE system follows all of the basic principles of viral marketing, but instead of simply increasing “numbers of users”, it also increases the number of webpages that promote your products.

The free users are still able to automatically build hundreds of VRE sites on the fly, instead of having to do it manually.  The free user still gets to do everything I showed you about HyperVRE in the last lesson – apart from adding their own contextual ads to their sites.

The AdSense revenue each free user can make is incredible – that is, if they’ve followed my lessons up to this point and put into action what they’ve learned.  So their incentive for downloading a free copy is tremendous.

Making your business viral is extremely important.  No matter how you plan to do it, be sure to take action on your plan.

I personally love HyperVRE because it allows me to build hundreds of my own VRE sites… and just as importantly, I can quickly “infect” others by making my business instantly viral.

I get to build my AdSense and affiliate sales through my site, and then turn around and see others building sites that promote MY affiliate products.  Talk about a viral strategy…

As you can see, viral marketing is a very powerful method, and it’s not something that ONLY big businesses like Hotmail can use.  Before developing this method, the Hotmail guys were just like us.

Whether you include all of these methods in your VRE sites and online business, OR you just pick and choose… you’ll get positive results… that is, you’ll make money!

Not to sound cliché, but with viral marketing and VRE sites, the sky really is the limit.

That's it for this lesson. I hope you can see just how powerful HyperVRE and viral marketing can be for your business.  I hope this lesson has provided some insight into what you really need to be doing with your VRE sites.

All the best,
